How much of that call was you?

Some calls you leave wondering whether you talked the whole time. TalkShare knows. While a Zoom, Meet, Teams, Slack or FaceTime call is on, it shows your share of the talking in the menu bar, live. Nothing is recorded: it only checks how loud your mic and the call are.

macOS 14.2 or later · Apple silicon & Intel · one key, 2 Macs

How it works

Three steps, most of them yours.

  1. Join a call

In Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Slack, FaceTime, Discord or Webex. There's nothing to start: TalkShare notices when the call app opens your mic.

  2. Talk as usual

Ten times a second it checks how loud your mic and the call app are, on your Mac, and keeps score: you, everyone else, interruptions.

  3. See your share

Live in the menu bar and the panel. After the call the numbers stay, and Copy Share Card turns them into a picture you can post.

A closer look

The whole app, screen by screen.

These are real screens from TalkShare, in light and dark to match your Mac. In Tidlet they open from the Tidlet icon in your menu bar.

Your share, live

A ring fills with your share of the talking. The menu bar shows it too, so you see it without opening anything.

A nudge past your limit

Set a nudge at 50, 60 or 70%. Past it, after two minutes of you talking, the ring turns orange. No sound, no pop-up.

Every call, scored

When the call ends you get the numbers: your share, your time, everyone else's, your longest stretch and interruptions, plus this week's average.

A card worth posting

Copy Share Card puts a picture of the call's numbers on your clipboard, ready to paste into a post or a group chat. No names, no words, just the numbers.

Muted means muted

When the call app closes your mic, TalkShare stops counting you until you unmute. Talking to the room while muted doesn't count.

Features

Everything it does.

The full list fits on one screen.

Starts on its own

No button to press before a call. TalkShare starts when a call app opens your mic and stops when the call ends.

You against everyone else

Your time, everyone else's and the overlap when you talk at once. The share is yours against theirs.

Interruptions and long stretches

It counts the times you started talking over someone, and your longest time holding the floor.

Speakers or headphones

On speakers your mic also hears the call. TalkShare learns how much leaks in and doesn't count it as you.

A card to share

One click copies a picture of a call or your week, with the numbers and nothing else.

Calls in the browser too

Google Meet and other calls in Chrome, Safari, Arc, Edge, Brave or Firefox, while the browser has the mic open.

Privacy

What TalkShare sees, and what it sends.

The app has no analytics, ads or tracking. The full details are in our privacy policy.

What it reads

  • How loud your microphone is, during calls only.
  • How loud the call app's sound is, through the System Audio Recording permission. Other apps' sound isn't included.
  • Which app has the mic open, to know a call is on.

What it sends

  • Your license key, an activation ID and your Mac's name, to Dodo Payments, to check the key.
  • Nothing else, ever.

What it never does

  • Record, transcribe or save audio. Not a second of it.
  • Know who's on the call or what anyone said.
  • Upload anything. Saved calls are numbers only: the app, the date and the times.

Questions

Good to know

Something else? Email hello@tidlet.com.

Does TalkShare record my calls?

No. It never records, transcribes or saves audio. Ten times a second it reads two loudness numbers, your mic and the call app's sound, and throws them away. After a call it keeps the app's name, the date and the times.

Why does it need System Audio Recording?

To tell when the others are talking, TalkShare has to hear how loud the call app is. macOS calls that permission System Audio Recording Only. TalkShare listens to the call app alone, not your music or other apps.

Does it work on speakers, or only headphones?

Both. On speakers your mic also picks up the other people, so TalkShare learns how much of the call leaks into your mic and only counts your voice when it's clearly louder than that. Headphones are still the most accurate.

Will the people on the call know?

No. TalkShare doesn't join the call or add anything to it. While a call is on, macOS lists TalkShare as using the microphone, next to your call app.

Does it know who said what?

No. It knows you (your mic) and everyone else (the call's sound). Your share is your talking against everyone else's.

Is it safe to download?

Yes. The app is signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, which checks it for malware before it can open on your Mac.

Can I buy TalkShare on its own?

TalkShare comes in Tidlet, one menu bar app with all nine Tidlet tools. $9 unlocks every one of them; switch on TalkShare and leave the rest off if you like.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every tool works for 3 days from the first launch, with no key and no account. The trial runs on your Mac and sends nothing. After that the tools pause until you enter a license key. If Tidlet doesn't work on your Mac and we can't fix it, we refund you within 14 days.

How many Macs can I use it on?

One key activates Tidlet on 2 Macs. New Mac? Email hello@tidlet.com with your receipt and we'll free a slot.
